　　London, 6th June 2018: Tsinghua University has entered the top 20 of the world’s most-consulted international university ranking for the first time. The fifteenth edition of the QS World University Rankings, released today by global higher education analysts QS Quacquarelli Symonds, sees China’s highest-ranked university rise from 25th to 17th. This makes it the first Chinese university to feature in the global top 20 since QS adopted new methodological enhancements in 2015.

　　伦敦时间2018年6月6日：全球高等教育研究机构QS Quacquarelli Symonds于今天发布了第十五期QS世界大学排名，中国排名最高的清华大学从世界25位升至第17位。清华大学首次进入全球最受瞩目的世界大学排名前20位。这是自2015年QS采用新排名算法以后，首次有中国大学进入世界前20名。

　　Globally, Massachusetts Institute of Technology is named the world’s leading university for a record-breaking seventh consecutive year, while Asia’s top university is the National University of Singapore (11th). QS now rank the world’s top 1000 universities, which hail from 85 different countries, and their flagship website, is due to be visited over 65 million times this year.

　　· Tsinghua’s performance is the highlight of a successful year for the Chinese higher education system;

　　· 40 Chinese institutions are ranked this year, one more than in last year’s edition of the rankings (the top 10 list can be found below);

　　· 19 of these universities improve, including four of China’s top 5. 11 universities drop, while nine remain stable in their position or band;

　　· Peking University has enjoyed a fourth consecutive year of improvement, reaching a new high. It is now 30th, up from 38th;

　　· The results mean that China has more top-100 universities than any other Asian nation, territory, or location (6). Its system is ahead of Japan and South Korea (5 top-100 universities each), Hong Kong S.A.R. (4 top-100 universities), and Singapore (2 top-100 universities);

　　· China’s improvements can be primarily attributed to the nation’s excellent research performance;

　　· 28 of China’s 40 ranked universities (70%) improve their rank in QS’s Citations per Faculty indicator, which measures an institution’s research impact. Five Chinese institutions are among the top 100 for research effectiveness: University of Science and Technology of China (17th, 98.4/100), Nanjing University (87.8/100, 45th), Shanghai Jiao Tong University (85.0/100, 50th), Tsinghua University (77.4/100, 70th), and East China University of Science and Technology (70.3/100, 99th);
